chp…? at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven
Dutch Design Week: SENSE NONSENSE, Design Academy Eindhoven: guest at the museum with sense and nonsense in innovation. A sequel to Self Unself – the exhibition during Dutch Design Week 2013 – the exhibition and event program Sense Nonsense is part of a series that places the work of Design Academy Eindhoven students and alumni in a broader context with the aim of establishing new collaborations and strengthening links between design, art and science.
Through the exhibition at the Van Abbemuseum, Design Academy Eindhoven explores the inevitable relation between sense and nonsense, the interplay of sanity and insanity in innovation, and the role of the ridiculous and the absurd in liberating society and industry from the conventional wisdom that drives it. The curators picked Marcel Wanders chp25 Nosé to be included in the presentation. This piece was accompanied by work of amongst others Atelier NL, Auger & Loizeau, Maarten Baas, Mandy Roos, Wim T. Schippers, Studio Makkink & Bey, Tomm Velthuis and Thomas de Wolf.
‘A clown’s nose or a sophisticated piece of conceptual jewelry. Can you tell the difference?’
The exhibition runs from October 18 until November 9, 2014 at Van Abbemuseum, Bilderdijklaan 10, 5611 NH Eindhoven, The Netherlands – www.vanabbemuseum.nl
